Coronavirus precautions
While we still do not wish to worry or alarm you, we are continuing to take the threat of this virus seriously and we are placing the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff at the top of our list of priorities. With this in mind we would like to provide you with the following information:
Have you been exposed to the Coronavirus?
If within the last 14 days, you have come to Ireland from an outbreak zone or have been in contact with a person diagnosed with novel coronavirus OR have attended a healthcare facility where patients with novel coronavirus are being treated, you are asked to make contact with your local Department of Public Health by phone on 1850 24 1850 for further advice.
If you develop any symptoms that are suggestive of acute respiratory illness, during or up to 14 days after travel from an outbreak zone you should:
- stay at home and do not come to school.
- seek medical attention from your local health centre and share your travel history with your health care provider.
- Phone the doctor in advance rather than attending in person.
- Make sure that, when you phone, you mention your recent travel. The health centre will arrange for you to get medical help.
To protect yourself from the virus:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water.
- If you are coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue.
- Throw the used tissue away into a closed bin, and wash your hands. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your flexed (bent) elbow.
- Avoid close contact with anyone who you know has cold or flu symptoms.
- Check the travel advisories from the Department of Foreign Affairs prior to arranging travel abroad.
The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has developed guidance and it is available to read here.
Cancellation and amendments of courses
We understand that the outbreak of Coronavirus has caused major restrictions on travel and a lot of our students from certain areas have had to postpone or cancel their trips. Because of this, we wish to clearly state our cancellation terms and conditions to avoid any disappointment.
At the temporary discretion of the management, and as an exception to our normal terms and conditions, in the case of cancelled courses we will keep a note of any cancellation fees retained by Everest and can discount these from the price of future bookings. However, in the case of postponements and cancellations of accommodation, fees will not be transferable.
